Getting closer to the end, little by little.

Did some more tiling tonight.  Still have 2 walls of the shower and the 3 walls surrounding the whirlpool tub to do.  On to the pictures…

Starting the back corner wall:

Shelf for the shower.  It actually matches the tile surprisingly well despite it not being the same material.

Honestly, I haven’t figured out how exactly this thing mounts, so I left the tiles out where I plan on putting it until I figure out whether it installs over the tile or between the tile.

Progress:

I didn’t get done all the way up to the top because by 8:30 I had run out of energy, but I got more done then I anticipated.  I would love to get all of the wall tile done this weekend, but we shall see.

Sink faucet in place but not hooked up:

I do still need to order cabinet pulls and stools, but right now finishing the tile is really the priority.  I hope to take a night or two off and pick up again Thursday when my Dad is going to come down and help me hook up the pedestal sink for the powder room.

Let there be….Poo

Maybe the end really is in sight.  My Dad and I set the toilet in the powder room, and it flushes, and it doesn’t leak.  The days of peeing in the garage are over.  In this picture you can also see the color the bathroom got painted.  It was originally going to be much darker but it looked way too dark for such a small room so she lightened it up by mixing in some white.  It looks really good.  The lamp is just there until my electricians mount the vanity light.  Also behind the toilet is the base I picked out.  Its 7 1/4″ tall.  My Dad cut a piece to put behind the toilet because we knew it would be hard to get behind there once the toilet and sink were in.  I think we are going to try and hook up the pedestal sink Wednesday.

I went to the Depot and got exhaust fans for the bathrooms.  I installed the one in the powder room this afternoon.  It actually was really easy to do and just plugged into the box that was roughed in in the ceiling.  I put the grille on it and hit the switch and it actually worked…haha.  So now not only can you actually go to the bathroom in the house, but you can make your smells leave the house quicker.

I also wired the new thermostat.  I didn’t take any pictures because I smeared some sort of grease all over the wall around the thing and quite frankly I wasn’t proud of the cleanliness of my work.  After switching a wire around, swearing at Honeywell, and doing some internet reading, I finally got the AC to start blowing again.  Needless to say, the touch screen Honeywell thermostat I got is one of the least intuitive pieces of electronics I can remember buying.  What they most certainly don’t make clear is that if when you first put the batteries in the thing, you MUST set the date to the correct date before doing anything else, because at this point I can find no way how to change it.  It will let you change the time, but not the date.  I tried pulling the batteries, disconnecting the wiring, and flipping the breaker, but to no avail.  I gave up and set every day on the 7 day scheduling thing to the same temperature and the air finally came on and was on when I left.

Pretty much just got tiling to do this week, lots of tiling.  More updates coming soon hopefully…

Wall tile – prettay prettay tedious

Wow, can’t believe this is my 90th post.  It feels like about 110 out side right now.  My Mom painted my powder room today and I got going on the shower wall tile.  I love it so far.  It is going to look incredible when its done.  It took me about the entire day to get the big wall of the shower done but I think tomorrow things will go quicker because I have the hang of it.

Yes Kyle, those orbs are from me sweeping 2 minutes before taking these pictures.

One thing is for sure, there sure as hell are going to be a ton of 3″ x 6″ wall tiles in my bathroom at the end of all  of this…

Plasma Action

After many months/years of imagining a beautiful flat screen on an amazing exposed brick wall, it finally happened.  I actually was able to mount the bracket and hang the TV without any assistance.  Really its all I did tonight, but oh well, for some reason it makes me feel closer to being done.  There is alot of work to do this weekend and I guess sometimes I need pointless/enjoyable things to do like this to help me get through to the next stage.

Many many tapcon screws…

Success… now I just need to figure out the conduits, wires, and surround speakers.

Appliances…finally ordered.

After much debate, argument, and frustration, I ordered appliances last night.  Of course when I went to finalize the order the dishwasher was sold out.  I will buy one in stainless steel locally.  Anyways here are the appliances I decided on:

MGR8670WS-Maytag – Gas Range

MMV1164WS-Maytag – Over the Range Microwave

MSD2272VES-Maytag – Side by Side Refridgerator
