Trash status / other stuff

Last night my Dad and I rehung the can lights…well atleast most of them. The mounting rails on the things are so flimsy a couple of them were a real pain in the ass. I don’t think any are shown in these pictures, but then again they really aren’t that exciting.

Per the request of one of my loyal followers here are some pictures of the trash filled garage as it was as of last night:

Playing Catch-up

I finally put the cabinet order in yesterday. I believe production time should be 3-4 weeks. Probably a week or two before they’re to be delivered I will go pick out a granite slab.

I finished up furring out the ceiling and took down all of the lights in the kitchen so that they can be relocated tonight. I swept up a bit and attempted to take pictures but my camera was dead.
Also, this morning I was digging through some of my pictures here on my work computer and thought it’d be cool to post this before and after of the stairs…reallly reallly crazy how narrow they were before…

I think once drywall starts going up I will start posting some pictures of what the house looked like when I bought it in August so that you can really see how things have changed.

A little more progress.

Worked on a bunch of things today. Finally finished the bulk head around the plumbing in the dining area. I guess my day of metal stud work and thumb slicing was a waste because I ended up finishing the thing in wood. The only part that stayed metal was the piece of track I had installed.

I would say that 40% of the ceiling is furred out now. I struggled to get some of the can lights down and reinstalled at the new ceiling height, but the living room area is almost done. Hopefully work my way back to the kitchen during the week so that the electricians can finish up this coming weekend.

Here are some pictures…

Basement door framing finished:

Gotta call up Canton Kitchens tomorrow and put the cabinet order in. Hopefully drywall will get ordered soon too.

Under stair framing

Got the under stair framing done today as well as most of the doorway to the basement. My Dad spent the entire day putting cardboard and painters tape all over the new stairs to protect them. I told him at the start of the day it was going to take him the entire day and he said no way. It took him the entire day. Haha. Anyways here are some pictures:

Tomorrow I’ll finish up the door framing to the basement and a little bit upstairs. Then we are gona put furring strips on all the joists on the 1st floor. Hopefully some more updates tomorrow.

New stairs are in!!

Well the guys at Eastern Stair finished installing the new staircase in under 2 hrs. I am pretty impressed. It looks much nicer and much more detailed then I imagined. Here are the pictures:

That’s pretty much it for now. This weekend we will need to frame the wall under the stair and the doorway to the basement, protect the stairs, and install furring strips on the ceiling of the first floor because of the damn shower drain that comes down below the joists.
